Lunging is bending with one knee instead of two. 
Lunging is bending with one knee instead of two knees. It is much faster than bending with two knees and it also allows you to reach. The lunge is used during continuing movements, especially in sports like tennis (look at Roger Federer). Be sure to point your spine as you also bend at the ankles and hips, not the waist.
