When driving, avoid pulling the steering wheel.

Leland Vall Alexander Technique Tip 52

I hear a lot of questions about excess tension during driving. Generally, the more you pull on the steering wheel, the tighter your neck will get. As always, allow your torso to release back.

Thank you, Leland. I do tend to pull on the steering wheel when, I get tire especially, so I am now reminding myself to lean back and push, creating space in front of me, rather than pulling the steering wheel with my arms.

Thanks for your weekly tips and for responding to this question.

      Regards,

      Georgia

      Hi Georgia,

Thanks for your comment, you bring up a good point. I might not have been clear but you don’t have to “push”, just avoid pulling.
