Bending forward? Point your spine instead of pulling it down.

Leland Vall Alexander Technique Tip 49

Still even more sitting (and bending) in chairs. For reaching, point your spine and bend at the hip. Your back will grow stronger over time and you will have more room for breathing. Bending at the waist pulls your spine down, restricts breathing, and shortens your reach. Visit the resources below for more on your pointing spine.

      sir,
      amazing idea.
i noticed here the reflex of the bending is correct
      in your above photo.
      here i think,
the head goes forward and up and the waist is not bending and we are moving from the hips , so that
the back can be lengthen to let it widen from nondoing of the narrowing of the back.

i will remember this photo, and i will sure practice
      it in my daily activities.

      thank you.
